Why We Choose Scandinavian Rapeseed Wax

The choice of wax is the single most important sustainability decision for a candle brand. Our natural candles are made with 100% rapeseed wax that is sustainably sourced. This choice offers distinct advantages:

Natural Wicks for Clean Burning

The wick is critical to both the candle's performance and your home's air quality. Our unscented candles feature a natural, wooden wick that produces a gentle, soothing crackling sound, evoking the ambiance of a miniature fireplace. For our scented candles, we use a high-quality cotton wick that ensures a classic, clean burn. Both wicks are designed to burn cleanly with minimal residue, contributing to a healthier indoor environment.

Crafting Pure, Safe Fragrances

The fragrance is the soul of a candle, but the source of that fragrance is a complex part of sustainability. We believe in the beauty of nature and the responsibility of science. Our unique scents are created by master perfumers in Grasse, France, who artfully combine sustainably sourced essential oils with premium, non-toxic fragrance ingredients. Our fragrances are phthalate-free and non-toxic, ensuring a clean burn in your home.

The Vessel: Designed for a Second Life

The candle's container is a central part of the experience, designed as a beautiful object in its own right. Each vessel is individually handcrafted in our studio from a proprietary, eco-friendly mineral composite material. This gives every jar a unique, stone-like texture that is both minimalist and tactile. We designed our jars with a second life in mind: once cleaned of leftover wax, the sturdy and stylish vessel can be repurposed as a small planter, a desk organizer, or a bathroom canister, providing extra value and reducing waste.

Local Sourcing, Lower Impact

Keeping our supply chain local is a cornerstone of our sustainability strategy. We are a Denmark-based business, and we actively prioritize local and regional sourcing for both materials and production. Our candles are lovingly hand-poured and assembled right here in our Danish workshop. This approach ensures a smaller carbon footprint and a stronger community connection. Our packaging is also sourced from Danish and Scandinavian suppliers who share our values.

Packaging with a Purpose: Unboxing a Lighter Footprint

When it comes to packaging, we believe that what’s on the outside should be as green as what’s inside. Our candles are 100% plastic-free, and you won’t find any cellophane wrap or plastic inserts in our boxes. We use sustainable alternatives like recycled paper and cardboard. Any necessary padding to protect the candle during shipping is done with materials like recycled craft paper. We’ve also chosen natural kraft paper tape for sealing shipping boxes, so that you don’t have to peel it off for recycling.

The Journey Ahead: Our Sustainability Roadmap

Authenticity in sustainability requires acknowledging that it is a continuous journey of improvement, not a final destination. We’re proud of our efforts so far, but we know this is just the beginning. Our roadmap is built on clear, time-bound objectives:

Refill Program: We aim to roll out a full refill program, allowing customers to buy wax refill inserts or send back their empty candle jars for a refill at a discount.
Eco-Certifications: We have our eyes on achieving official eco-certifications like the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and B Corp Certification. This would validate our efforts with an independent seal of approval that customers in Scandinavia recognize and trust.
Solar Power: We have installed solar panels on our workshop roof, which generate a portion of our own power, mirroring the achievements of industry leaders.
